Congratulations to one of our valued Ambassadors on receiving a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in this year’s Australia Day Awards for her significant service to the performing arts and to wildlife conservation. A veteran actress for over a half century, Val played Bea Smith in the Australian TV series Prisoner from 1979 to 1983 and received three Logie Awards for her performances. (1982-Best Lead Actress in a Series, 1982- Most Popular Actress and 1983- Best Lead Actress in a Series). Val has also appeared in many other Australian productions including Neighbours, The Flying Doctors, Blue Heelers, All Saints, City Homicide to name just a few. In 2016, Val was also a contestant in the Australian version of “I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of Here”. Val also has a passion for wildlife conservation and is an ambassador with Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors and our Endangered Species Supporters Australia works. She is also an advocate and supporter for Positive Women in Victoria.
