Regent Honeyeater

Conservation status as Critically endangered (CE) - considered to be facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild

The regent honeyeater is listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List, and as endangered under both Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and Queensland’s Nature Conservation Act 1992. The Action Plan for Australian Birds 2010, compiled by researchers from Charles Darwin University and published in October 2011 by the CSIRO, added the regent honeyeater to the “critically endangered” list, giving habitat loss as the major threat. About ESSA

Our project will extend over a 5 year period covering all parts of Australia from the coastal and inland regions.

The main focus of our project is awareness: awareness on how critical some of Australia’s species are heading towards extinction. This is the message we hope to convey to as many people as possible.
