Black-flanked Rock-wallaby

Conservation status as Critically endangered (CE) - considered to be facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild

Known in the Western Desert as Warru or the Black-footed Rock-wallaby, these endangered marsupials were once widespread across many parts of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. They live in rugged rocky areas where they shelter during the day in caves, cliffs, screes and rockpiles.

About ESSA

Our project will extend over a 5 year period covering all parts of Australia from the coastal and inland regions.

The main focus of our project is awareness: awareness on how critical some of Australia’s species are heading towards extinction. This is the message we hope to convey to as many people as possible.
